David Terrill has been creating compelling illustration and design for over 25 years. Having studied illustration at Miami University of Ohio and impressionist painting in Giverny, France.
David currently serves as a full-time Assistant Professor of Illustration at the Kansas City Art Institute, is a working Illustrator/Designer and an active Creative Director. Terrill is Managing Member of Sublime Apparatus, LLC, a creative and collaborative incubator for discovering new ways to communicate visually.
Terrill has been the recipient of numerous honors, which include Spectrum 3 Annual Collection, HOW International Design Competition– Outstanding Achievement Winner, Print Magazine Regional Design Annuals, as well as National and Regional ADDY awards from the American Advertising Federation, AAF, recognition from the American Institute of Graphic Arts, AIGA, The Society of Illustrators, Los Angeles and
3X3 The Magazine for Contemporary Illustration.
David is committed to the supporting the artistic treasures of Kansas City. He is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Paul Mesner Puppets, Inc., a non-profit puppet theatre company and premier interpreter of children’s literature. Additionally, David donates his time and talents to the American Jazz Museum's annual 18th & Vine Jazz Festival (formally Rhythm & Ribs) since its inception in 2005.
David recently spoke at the ICON9 Educational Symposium: Radical Teaching; New Approaches in Pedagogy in Austin Texas.
Terrill lives in Kansas City with his wife and two children.
